More is more

Postasin Mainion mekosta inspiksensä saaneen mekon aiemmin. Siitä tuli paras mekko ikinä,joten ompelin pari lisää.

I posted a Mainio inspired dress earlier. It turned out to be the best dress ever. Now it has company since I made two more dresses with the same pattern.

Tästä tuli aivan ihana. Sininen näyttää olevan Minean väri. This is absolutely fantastic. I love it. Blue turned out to be the color for Minea.

I heart dress

Kesä lähestyy ja hihat lyhenee. Minea halusi pitkähihaisen ja minä (ajatukset jo kesässä) lyhythihaisen. Kompromissina syntyi mekko 3/4 mittaisilla hihoilla. Ajattelin, että hihat voisi kesällä vielä lyhentää. Suloisen sydänkankaan hankin paikallisesta eli Verson Puodista. Kaavana on Ottobren 1/15 peplum pidennetyllä helmalla.

As summer approaches sleeves get shorter. However, it turned out that Minea still wanted long sleeves. So, this 3/4 length is a compromise. I might cut them shorter when it gets warmer. The lovely heart jersey is from our local fabric store Verson Puoti and the pattern is a peplum from Ottobre. I just increased the length to make it a dress.

Idea rannerenkaaseen löytyi Ihana-askartelulehdestä. Hama-helmiä sulatetaan muutama minuutti 175-asteisessa uunissa ja helmistä tulee pieniä kiekkoja. Kurkkaa toinen Hama-helmivinkkini täältä.

The idea for the bracelet came from Ihana-magazine. The bracelet is made from Hama beads. We just put some beads into the oven (175 °C) for a few minutes and the beads melted into little discs. Check out my other Hama bead idea from here.

Aurinkoisia kukkasia

Kuvittelin tämän Kukkasia-kankaan olevan tummemman keltainen ja jotenkin tämä jäi liian hailakkana hyllyyn odottelemaan inspiraatiota. Koska väri ei ollut ihan mieluinen, uskalsin saksia kankaasta mekon ihan omalla uudella mallilla. Yllätyksekseni tästä tulikin tosi kiva. Kangas on mukavan painavaa, ihanan pehmeää ja ei oikeastaan liian hailakkaa ollenkaan.

I was a bit disappointed with the shade of yellow this fabric turned out to be and therefore it has waited for inspiration for months. However, because the color wasn't my favorite one I didn't feel bad cutting it to test my very own new pattern. To my own amazement  this came out great. Even the color looks good now. I love the weight and the softness of the jersey.

Yläosa on valkoista resoria. Mekko menee päälle ilman vetoketjua. Sain jopa siistit taskutkin aikaan. Kaikista hankalinta on saada taskut osumaan symmetrisesti ja kuviot kohdalleen. Uskalsin kuitenkin yrittää, sillä taskut on mekossa tosi kätevät puhelinta ja nenäliinaa varten.

There is no need for a zipper as the jersey stretches nicely and I used white ribbing for the top part. I managed to make perfect pockets. It is really difficult to get them evenly while matching the print underneath. I'm glad I gave it a go though since pockets are so very useful in a dress.

Mekkoa voi pitää vyöllä tai ilman.

Uutta hellettä odotellessa

Helli oli ja meni. Uutta odotellessa surautin simppelin mekon itselleni (kun nyt alkuun kerta päästiin). Katsoin hiukan mallia Made for Apes -blogista. Piha on muuten astetta vihreämpi kuin edellisessä postauksessani.

Now that I've got started, here's another quick-to-make dress for myself. I used the instructions given by Made for Apes. I hope the heat will return soon. Notice that the background is slightly greener than in my previous post.

Aikuiseen makuun - For grown ups

Vaihteeksi itsellekin jotain. Tänään oli kesäinen päivä. Varjossakin yli 28 astetta.

Something for myself for a change. It was really hot today: over 28 centigrades in shade.

Kangas on nimeltään Kukikas. Tykkään isoista hiukan graafisista printeistä. Mekon kaava on suuresti muokattu Suuri Käsityö -lehdestä 5-6 2011. Olen mm. tehnyt taskut ja  muotolaskoksia. Pidän noista raglanhihoista. Olen tehnyt tämän mekon viime kesänä samalla kaavalla.

Pattern is from Suuri Käsityö 5-6 2011 but I have adjusted it big way e.g. by making pockets. I adore the raglan sleeves. I used the same pattern last summer and made this dress.
